Episode 32 - Woohoo no work!

Aaron interviews me about what I plan to work on while I take 6 weeks off from Foursquare. We’ll talk about the future of this podcast, several prototype ideas that I want to build, and my reading list.

Can I get all this done? Probably not ALL of it – but I hope a good chunk of it!

Episode 31 on causality. An example of a recent episode with a technical discussion and great guest.

Episode 26 with Chris Messina. An example of another great guest with a built in audience, something I hope to get more of in the coming months.

Book List

Here’s a list of books that I’m planning to read, or have read during my time off:

The Book of Why by Judea Pearl. Recommended by Episode 31’s Guest Shirin Mojarad as a book on casualty.
Bitwise: A life in code by David Auerbach.
The Manager’s Path by Camille Fournier

Deep Learning: A Practitioner’s Approach by Patterson and Gibson
I don’t expect to get through this one, but I might get started: Modeling Count Data by Joseph Hilbe

Blockchain Basics by Daniel Drescher
Building Blockchain Projects by Narayan Prusty
And if I need to supplement those 2 books: Solidity Programming Essentials by Ritesh Modi

Types and Programming Languages by Benjamin Pierce. This is a full college-level textbooks, so I only expect to get through a few chapters.
Advanced Topics in Types and Programming Languages in case I get REALLY ambitious and want to peek at the advanced-level text.

TR’s Last War by David Pietrusza. Gotta slip in some history, and my favorite history author has got one hot off the press.
Torah from the Years of Wrath by Henry Abramson. I will be reading my signed copy from Henry Abramson himself!
Tao Te Ching: The Taoism of Lao Tzu Explained – I also mentioned that I read this one earlier in the year.
